Steve Massell, 40, currently a member of the Middletown Township Planning Board, is a Middletown Township native, having grown up in Lincroft and the River Plaza section of the Township. His father, Jerry, is a former township attorney and a retired New Jersey Judge. His mother, Betty, ran the Garden Center at Foodtown in Red Bank for many years and was President of Middletown’s RFD Garden Club.
Steve received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Business Administration at Curry College, Massachusetts. Steve also pursued international studies in Wild Life Management at the School for Field Studies in Nairobi-Kenya and Eastern European History in Moscow, Russia. Steve is a graduate of Middletown High School South and attended Thompson Middle School and Lincroft Grammar School. At South, Steve was an accomplished athlete serving as a member of the varsity wrestling, track, golf and gymnastics teams with the last winning the State Championship in 1986.
Steve’s work experience has included serving as a manager for ORVIS in Darien, Connecticut and as financial services consultant for American Express. Since returning to Middletown more than five years ago, Steve has served as a licensed NJ Real Estate Agent with the Coldwell Banker and is currently a mortgage consultant with Wells Fargo in Middletown.
Steve is an Assistant Coach in MYAA T. Ball and St. Mary Soccer. Steve’s wife, Emily Dunleavy Massell, works for a private equity firm in Manhattan. They have four children, twin 6-year old boys (Edward and Nathaniel) and two girls Delia (4) and Virginia (1).
